Thoughtful Thursday!

I want to share with you my Thoughtful Thursday story. This idea originated at Kayleigh's Story. My husband works for Yardhouse Restaurants and each month they give him Yardhouse bucks to spend at the restaurants as a thank you and incentive to bring in family and friends. In the past, we've taken friends & family out for a nice dinners and always used every cent of our Bucks (which total about $300 per month). Well, recently I was out with friends enjoying 'Happy Hour' with 1/2 price food items and having a great time. When our bill came, I paid with my YH bucks and still had $25 left over -which had to be used by the end of the month. I looked around the restaurant and noticed a very young couple sharing a pizza and having a couple of sodas, obviously, a date. I interrupted their meal and told them that I had $25 to give them to put towards their meal. "Order dessert" I told them! You can imagine the look I got! The first thing out of their mouths were, "What do we have to do to get it?" I explained to them that my husband worked for the restaurant and I was GIVING them $25 - they still had a look of disbelief on their faces! Why would I choose them? Is this for real? etc, etc...  I wished them a good evening and left the restaurant - walking by the window I was watching their expressions and they seemed to be flabbergasted that this happened to them! I think from here on, I'll make it a habit to give some of my bucks to those in the restaurant. The reaction I got was priceless and I'm sure this young couple went home to tell everyone how lucky they were.

  1. I came to your blog from Kayleigh's :) I was once the on the other end in a story similar to yours. My husband and I (at the time 21 and 22) had just had our 1st baby and were celebrating our 2nd anniversary at a pricy restaurant we saved up for. The couple sitting with us (it was a hibachi table) ended up paying for our entire meal, saying they couldn't thank my husband enough for serving for their country and how they know how hard it is to be young with a new baby. That was 5 years ago, and it still brings tears to my eyes and makes me smile to know someone thought of us like that. I can betcha that that couple you gave to will always remember your kindness :)

  3. This is great, Sis - but how come we've never been invited to use up some of those bucks? ;)
